What interior design trends will be here for 2023?
As the new year approaches, we, and our customers alike, are wondering “what design trends are going to be popular in 2023 for homes?”. Well, with some research, the team at The Shutter Studio has found plenty of home decoration ideas and interior trends for you to look forward to and join in with this 2023.
Firstly… What’s going away?
Before we look into what is coming up for interiors, let’s have a quick look at what is leaving the popular list. According to Forbes online blog, some of the 2022 interior design trends going away this end of the year are:
Maximalist interiors: Having multiple throws and pillows on your bed or sofa is getting too much for daily life, and filling your interior with too much decor is starting to fade out. Homeowners are starting to realise that less is more and minimalist interiors are becoming much more popular and easier to maintain, especially for those with busy schedules.
But this isn’t to be confused with minimalist interiors are still very popular, having little to no decoration is not the best either. Interiors need to have depth and dimension and even adding something like a bold printed wallpaper can add more to a room, if you wasn’t looking to add lots of furniture. Keep it minimal but homely.
Using one-toned wood – Having wood furniture can definitely add depth and a homely feeling to your interior but only using one tone, whether this be light or dark, can make a room feel less inviting and so we’re saying goodbye to matching furniture in 2022.
It’s time to mix up your wooden furniture with a variation of colours and tones, and we can help you with that. Choose from our selection of natural wood-stained finishes for your interior for your shutters or Venetian blinds and create an inviting, spacious room.
Fast-Furniture – Now everyone loves a piece of flatpack furniture, they are easy and convenient to quickly add something to your interior, but a lot of homeowners are trading the modern, easy pieces for vintage and handmade products.
Refurbishing older tables, chairs, wardrobes, etc jumping up the list as it is more sustainable, and adds a bit of character to older and modern homes. We simply love the idea! We are designers of bespoke, handmade products, some of which are sustainably sourced and built to last and so completely agree with refurbishing something old into something new.
Interior Trends 2023

Now, these are just 2023 predictions of what we could be seeing more of in properties but we already love some of the ideas, and want to help you achieve these using some of our products!
Why is interior design so important? Every home is unique in its interior design because it is chosen by the homeowners themselves. Adding personal touches and furniture makes a property pleasant, inviting, and suited for the purpose of living.
Whether you choose an interior to benefit your mental and physical health or simply because you like the design, each decision is important. Having a comfortable and pleasant space to come back to and relax in, can really evoke happiness and improve our moods greatly.
Let’s get onto what are the upcoming trends next year…
Parisian Home Decor – French-style homes are going to be a hot topic in 2023 interiors. With marble fireplaces, white walls and ceilings, as well as neutral-toned decor, Parisian homes are taking over. For those choosing to add a french touch to their interior, Curated Interior has some amazing tips on what furniture you should be adding but it wouldn’t be fair if we didn’t add our tips also.
French homeowners are well known for adding Shutters to the interior and exterior of their homes, so much they are almost a “necessity to french life” and so what perfect way to add your own french touch to your home in 2023, than a set of our beautiful shutters. To get the real french feel, choose from a beautiful cafe-style or tier-on-tier shutter with a center tilt system for a classic finish.
Healing Homes – Home wellness products are continuing to make a rise, with homeowners looking for more ways of creating a stress-free living space and somewhere relaxing to call home. Wellness homes may include:
- Plants – for both decoration and to add calmness to homes – find out more about biophilic interiors in our blog.
- Materials with a variety of textures can help stimulate you to touch them
- Using colour theory to create relaxing environments
- Adding a variety of comforting scents to bring a home to life
The team at The Shutter Studio sees the importance of a customer’s well-being and we do our best to provide the best knowledge we can about how our products could help in your day-to-day life. We recently wrote a blog on how shutters and blinds can open your home to natural light, benefiting your mental and physical health, which is perfect for this continuing trend.

Brown & Earthy – Inspired by 1970s interiors, brown is back! Although designers fell out of love with these tones and decided that greys and whites were the way forward, they’ve made a return and are helping to create a sense of warmth within properties. Within both our blind and shutter range, you can choose from a range of brown and warm tones, whether this is for our wooden window dressings or fabrics! Get in touch with the team to book a visit to our showroom to see our colour range!
