Dressing your Patio Doors with Bifold Shutters

Whether you are looking to style your patio doors or conservatory windows, then why not choose some of our stunning bespoke bifold shutters. These can work as individual pieces or as tracked shutters to give you great access to your doors behind, whilst adding a completely different covering to your doors, instead of blinds or curtains.

Bi-folding shutter doors can work in one of two ways but the system works how it says in the name and folds back neatly away to the sides of your patio doors, whether this is individually or as one piece. The pieces are easy to move just by a simple hand movement and can be moved out of sight to give you full access to the door but also to maximum light coming in.

A lot of customers choose to have our shutters on their doors due to feeling a bit more protected of a night time or when they leave the house. Just like they do on windows, the shutter doors act as another layer against your door frame.

Being solid pieces of material can help protect your home a lot better from break-ins or even just damage to your glass windows. You can customise your shutter doors just as you can window shutters, with the materials, paints, stains and louvre size. They also work as great insulators, helping you save money on those energy bills during the winter months. They trap the cold air seeping in through gaps in windows and doors, behind them and therefore keep your home nice and warm.

At The Shutter Studio, we recommend choosing a light hardwood option due to them being easier to move and will not get damaged easily over time, with the constant moving of them.

With your own customisation, you could leave the bifold doors closed, but the louvres open, so you still have access to the sunlight. To keep a room nice and bright with these covering your doors, we recommend our range of white shutter paints with our biggest louvre size, due to them reflecting any light coming and opening the room up with the natural light. They would look great tied in with some plantation shutters on conservatory windows, giving you a sleek stylish look for the entire room.

As well as doors, Bifold shutters are a popular choice for flat windows and three-sided bays. When paired with tier on tier you can really maximise the amount of light in your home, so definitely ask our team about this option before purchasing.

So, what about Blinds?

Vertical Blinds work great on large windows and doors

We have a huge range of blinds you can use for patio doors and conservatory windows. Our vertical blind style suits large windows and doors due to their long hanging panels but we also have multiple styles including vertical, roller and pleated blinds that would all look perfect in these areas.

Pleated blinds are a very sleek and stylish design as they can be installed into windows/door frames instead of being free hanging. They can also be manually operated from the top or bottom and so you choose where your light and privacy is covered from each end of the window. Another great benefit about this style is that they can be energy-saving due to being fitted right into the window frame, they are installed with no drilling and no fuss and are easily adjustable to suit your needs.

Having any style of blinds on patio doors or even just in conservatories themselves can help save energy just as shutters can but can also help regulate the temperature during the warmer months. Conservatories especially, can get quite warm in the hotter months and having some blinds can help reduce the strong sun coming in, as well as take away that glare so you can enjoy other activities in that space and stay cool at the same time.

Our Venetian Blinds come in 3 materials, wooden, faux wood and aluminium. These are another great asset to patio doors and windows due to how they can offer maximum light and privacy control with their horizontal slats. These can be opened on their own but the whole blind itself can be adjusted up and down to completely open up the room again, giving you full access to the windows and doors behind with ease!

This is a great design that allows you to flood the room with light, tilt the slats for privacy or shade, and fully close the blinds at night to have that completely dark and private room.

So what style will you choose for your patio doors? We have so many options to choose from, and it all comes down to your personal preferences. Our team can help you make all the decisions based on what you want out of your shutters or blinds. From bespoke Bi-Folding doors to stylish and sleek made to measure blinds, there are endless products to work with.
