A bit about Poly

We have so many new customers asking; “Can you have shutters in a bathroom?” and “what is the best material for shutters in a bathroom?” so we wanted to inform you of the multiple ways you could provide your bathroom with a stylish and private window dressing.

Poly is aluminium reinforced, making it one of the strongest shutter materials in our collection. Using closed-cell shutter technology, this material is designed to fit into tough environments such as kitchens and bathrooms where condensation and water will appear. Unlike real wood, this faux wood finish is completely waterproof and therefore will not warp when exposed to damp areas and is easier to maintain as it will not be affected by water.

We still recommend avoiding any chemical products when cleaning your panels, just the same as our wooden range, as this can affect the beautiful paint finish and cause yellowing over time. The chemicals will break down the protective coating on your shutters and allow them to discolour in the sunlight. A microfibre cloth and water are all you need to give them that shiny finish, keeping them looking good as new.

We pair this material with a stainless steel hinge for a completely waterproof finish. As we mentioned, this material is very strong and durable, unlikely to chip or dent and can also be customised just like our hardwood range.

Can you customise them?

Yes! Even though this is our only faux wood material in our range, the shutters themselves can be customised to your requirements, including the choice of:

1. Colour: Due to us wanting the paint finish on your shutters to last many years, we only supply our poly shutters in a certain range of paint finishes that are suitable for these environments, from beautiful pure white finishes to creamy. These help keep your bathroom bright and open but also private at the same time with their pre-installed adjustable slats.
2. Louvres: Your louvre size is completely down to your preference for light and privacy, the same for any room you work in. Your PVC shutters for your bathroom are no different to any other in our range and you can choose from either of our popular 64 or 76mm louvre sizes to get a nice balance of light and privacy, or from a slightly bigger or smaller size depending on what finish you are looking for.
3. Style: You can choose from our many styles such as Tier On Tier, Full Height or even classic cafe shutters for your bathroom or kitchen space with Poly. Cafe Style, also known as half-height, is very popular in kitchens and bathrooms as the style provides both light and privacy by only covering a portion of the window.
