It can be practically impossible to find shutters or blinds to fit shaped windows off the shelf, which is why the best way to dress an unusual-shaped window is having a custom-made window dressing. If you have an arched, circular, or triangular window then made-to-measure blinds or shutters are the best solution to get the right fit and style to show off your unique window. This blog uncovers the different types of blinds and shutters to consider.

Blinds for odd-shaped windows

Vertical Blinds
Vertical blinds are perfect for triangle or arched windows due to how they hang in the space. They come in a range of fabrics and colours to make it easy for you to choose a finish to complement your interior décor. Additionally, vertical blinds are available in blackout, waterproof and flame-resistant fabrics, so wherever your shaped windows are located, there is a suitable material for the area.

Pleated blinds

Shaped Pleated Blind

Pleated blinds are another great option for odd-shaped windows. In particular, pleated Perfectfit and Trufit styles sit neatly in your window frames making them ideal for all window shapes. Pleated blinds also have beautiful folds that tuck away when opened. An example of this, is a project we completed in a flat which overlooked the River Thames in Kingston. The homeowner had a square window with a triangular window above and we installed two bespoke motorised pleated blinds, which worked separately for each window. View the project here.

Shutters for shaped windows

Plantation shutters are a simple way to transform your home from the inside out, leaving you with a stylish and practical set of window dressings for many years. Window shutters are the perfect solution, not just for bay and sash windows, but also for unusual shapes. Bespoke shaped shutters work best in a hardwood material such as Basswood or Paulownia, due to the wood being lightweight and easy to shape, however there are plenty of materials to choose from that can be crafted into shutters to show off your window style.

With custom-shaped shutters, you can also choose from a wide range of paint and stain finishes, various louvre sizes, tilt systems and hinge colours, to ensure the finished design perfectly complements your interior style.
