Shutters in Ebbsfleet
The marketing team had the exciting opportunity to film another installation within a new build home in Ebbsfleet. The couple had moved into their new build property in the winter of 2021 and began the journey of transforming their 3-story space with their own personal touches and decor to make it their own.
Their property is based in a very new estate of homes within Ebbsfleet Valley which is situated in a great location, just off the A2. This gives the new homeowners in the area access to a variety of nearby towns, shopping centres such as Bluewater and even travel at Ebbsfleet International, giving them direct access to London and even the Eurostar in a few minute’s drive.
Of course, as with most new build homes, they are unfurnished, even down to the window dressings. This left the couple’s home quite open and visible to passing pedestrians and cars for a while and it was time for a change. Back in February 2022, they decided to contact The Shutter Studio team where they arranged a measure and quote for their new dressings, of which they picked our beautiful shutters for every room in their home.

Installation Day

The couple chose a range of shutter styles for their home with the help of our surveying team, even including an exciting bi-fold track system for their patio doors. The team of fitters for the day included Sam and Mark, who started their day unpacking the shutters outside the property to prevent mess and create more space when working in each room. Starting at the top floor of the property, the couple chose a full-height shutter with a hidden split for their bedroom, as the window was quite small. This gave them the balance of light and privacy that they would need first thing in the morning as they could control the top and bottom of their louvres separately.
They had this same style in a beautiful office space on their second floor, as well as other full-height wood shutters in another office space and a spare bedroom. The second office was slightly different as it was designed with a mid rail, being due to the fact that the window was slightly taller and therefore would’ve added more stability for the panels.

Moving on to the bathroom and kitchen windows which were both complete with some waterproof, Tier-On-Tier Poly Shutters. As you’ll see from the transformation images, the bathroom already had a frosted glass but our waterproof shutters enable even more privacy and light control, whilst also being completely resistant to moisture being so close to the bath and shower area. The kitchen window was quite a concern for the couple as the room sits at the front of their property facing the road outside. With the kitchen and dining space directly in front, it didn’t feel private enough to enjoy spending time in and so having some tier-on-tier shutters installed was exactly what was needed.
They decided to have their shutter fitted so that the panels could open completely flush to the wall, and by having Tier-On-Tier this allowed them to have the privacy they needed at the bottom half of the window to enjoy a meal, whilst leaving the top half open for light purposes.
Bi-Fold Tracked Shutters

Whilst Mark was busy working on various shutters around the home, Sam started measuring and designing how the track system was going to fit on the patio door area. This included cutting down the rails to fit perfectly to the measurements of the walls and securing these in place both on the ceiling and floor for the shutter doors to eventually sit in.
The internal shutter doors are individually pre-secured with their clips which helps them slide along the rails, making it easier for our fitters to simply add the hinges and put them together on the day of fitting. This patio door area was quite large and the track system consisted of 4 shutter doors on each side which bi-folded together into the middle.
Both Sam and Mark, with the help of John later in the day, worked carefully but efficiently to make sure the track system was put in perfectly, making small adjustments where necessary so that the panels and louvres all sat flush and in line with one another. The couples were very happy with the end result of their new bifold shutter doors and noticed the instant change that they made, even making their space feel bigger, which is a compliment we get often from customers.
As well as bi-folding shutters, we can also install sliding shutter doors, also known as a bypass system which works best for sliding patio doors, to fit smoothly with the space. These both tuck away neatly to one side, allowing you to access your doors behind with ease.
Some of the main benefits to the track systems are;
- Increased Security – they add another layer between your door/window and the inside of your home, meaning they help protect your property from break-ins whilst you are away much better than not having any covering
- Energy Efficiency– They not only help insulate your home during the winter, which was going to benefit this customer greatly due to finding their property quite cold in the winter but also help in the summer months. Sunlight coming in through a glass window or door can easily warm up your home but with shutters, you can enjoy a cool area to relax in, keeping your windows open behind and leaving your louvres open slightly to create a nice airflow as well as a shaded area.
- Easy Movement – We often recommend these are designed in our hardwood materials as these are a lot lighter in weight.
