At The Shutter Studio we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of innovation when it comes to window coverings, which is why we are excited to announce the launch of our fly screen shutters. If you love shutters and loathe flies then this combination ticks both boxes, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of shutters, while preventing the tiniest of flies from entering your home.

“We launched our manual and motorised fly screens in 2023, and they have certainly lived up to the buzz! Because of the demand, we have gone a step further and developed shutters with this feature” explains Adam Allsop, MD at The Shutter Studio. “If the weather in September and October repeats temperatures experienced last year, flies are likely to be bothering the nation for longer than hoped, so the need for a product like this will continue.” Allsop explains.

How it works

fly screen shutters are the latest window shades for domestic homes

Innovative fly screen shutters are perfect for any home

The fly screen sits behind the shutters within the frame and is controlled using a tab to pull it down or push it up. Because it has no loose cords, it provides a more streamlined finish, which is also child-friendly.  When the screen is pushed up, it slots neatly into the top rail of the frame to keep it out of sight when not in use.

A fly deterrent, and more
As well as acting as a fly deterrent, there are many reasons why fly screen shutters are the next big thing in window shades. For example, by doubling up on your window covering, you are adding an additional layer of security. This keeps prying eyes from looking into your home and prevents potential intruders. The extra layer also means during the colder months you have a more effective barrier to keep warm air from escaping your home, whilst in the summer it can keep your home cooler as it blocks out sunlight – therefore reducing the need for air conditioning, which could increase your energy bills.

Style and substance
The fly screen shade comes in black, which, when teamed with white wooden shutters, looks particularly striking. The contrast not only looks stylish but also adds different textures to your interiors. Furthermore, you have all the functional benefits that shutters bring, such as being able to control the amount of light entering a room to their thermal and soundproofing capabilities.

So, if you are looking to modernise your home with the latest window shades and want a solution that goes above and beyond fly control, consider fly screen shutters to upgrade your windows.
