The Shutter Studio is going Eco-Friendly

As a growing company, we want to try and help save the planet as much as we can by becoming as eco-friendly as possible. We have already made a few steps toward doing this but as the future of the company continues, we want to extend this as much as we possibly can.

We are here to discuss why you should choose our service to work with over many others due to the environmentally friendly changes we are already making.

What We Are Already Doing:

Shutter Packaging: Being a shutter company, our beautiful products are delivered to us from our manufacturer in lots of packaging to keep them safe in transport so they arrive perfectly into your homes. The main source of packaging in this process is cardboard and at our warehouse, we have a baling machine that compacts all of these boxes down. We then have a recycling company to then come and collect this compacted cardboard to be disposed of in the most environmentally friendly way.
Personal Recycling: As well as the cardboard recycling, we also recycle other foam and plastic packaging, as well as our own personal products within the company. These are all collected by our local recycling companies as you would have at home.
Gift Boxes: As part of our service as of December last year, we started gifting our customers with care packages to receive after their shutter or blind installation. We wanted to keep these boxes as eco as possible, sourcing products only from local businesses in the UK and using eco-friendly products and packaging.

Across the various months, we have trialled different interior packaging including wood wool which is environmentally friendly, and our most recent, void fill packaging. Also known as “packing peanuts”, the void fill is completely dissolvable in water and therefore can be easily broken down therefore is a great source of eco-friendly packaging for our boxes. Our customers will be able to dispose of these with ease, even get children involved to watch them melt away like magic in the water.
Eco Wood: As part of our material range, one of our products “Sandblasted Paulownia” is actually a fast-growing eco-wood and is an exciting sustainable material in our collection. Paulownia wood is just one of our many beautiful materials and we recommend it highly to design your bespoke shutters.

Electric Cars: We have recently added some Volkswagen Id 3’s to our fleet team which are fully electric vehicles ready to take to the roads. These are mainly used by our surveying team as they are constantly driving around our fitting areas, heading to homes and businesses to measure up for your bespoke shutters and blinds.
These were a great addition to the team and add to our eco-friendly features of the company. Electric cars are becoming everyone’s future and are not only a modern piece of technology but also help save the planet. As a company, we are hoping to swap out some of our other vehicles for electric or hybrid vans and cars in order to become even more eco-friendly on the roads.
